I taught 5th grade Sunday School at Saddleback Valley Community Church for several years when Sarah came to my class. Quiet and shy, it wasn’t until I had the other students engaged in an activity that I was able to talk to her individually. "What is going on here?" she asked softly. "Who is ‘God’ and what do you mean by ‘prayer’?"

She epitomized, to me, the struggle of trying to reach the unchurched child in a classroom that included regular attenders. As a result I developed a series of worksheets to introduce Sarah, and others like her, to the Bible and to the basics of faith. The next time Sarah came to class I took out the sheets and asked the class to proofread them for me.

"Welcome to Your Bible" is a series of self-guided puzzles and activities that teach a child how to use a Bible, who God is, what prayer is, and how to become a child of God. It is short, fun and inexpensive so that it can be written in, and kept to be read and reread.

After working the puzzles - it took my class an average of 25 minutes to complete - we went into our regular lesson. Imagine my delight in seeing Sarah find the verses in her Bible and put up her hand and participate for the first time!

Encouraged, I sent the manuscript to several publishers.  In the spring of 1999 Barbour  Publishing. Inc. published "Welcome to Your Bible" in their Little Library series. In the Fall of 2002 Barbour had stopped publishing the booklet and I now continue to make it available to churches and others needing this tool.

A combination of 25 years of teaching experience went into "Welcome to Your Bible". It has been thoroughly checked for doctrinal accuracy.

The booklet can now be purchased in PDF form. You may purchase a license to print the PDF through the WELCOME TO YOUR BIBLE website. With this license you can reproduce them yourself on your own printer.

Together, we can share the vision for reaching the unchurched for Christ.
